The Chicago Gold Sox topped the New Amsterdam Republics by the score of 6-4, with the largest share of the credit going to designated hitter Melvin Castro. Castro was 2-4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Gold Sox. Chicago reliever Augusto Dávila picked up the win to move to 2-0. Pedro Castro suffered the loss. Earning his 2nd save of the year was Chris Rogers.

Castro had a game-changing single in the bottom of the seventh. On a full count fastball from Ramón Lara, he banged a 2-run single to center, giving the Gold Sox a 6-4 lead. It was the 7th hit of the year for Castro.

"Some wins are easy, some are difficult, but either way we come to the ballpark ready to work hard every day," Castro told the Chicago News.

The Chicago Gold Sox, now 3-1, have hit the ground running this season.
