Fans who gathered at Great Northern Field saw a good contest between the Phoenix Hotspur and Thunder Bay Northern Lions BC.
Phoenix right fielder Rafael Sánchez made his presence felt in the 6-3 Hotspur triumph over the Thunder Bay Northern Lions BC. Sánchez went 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Santiago Alonza was the winner. Over 6 innings, he allowed 3 runs on 8 hits, with 2 walks and 5 strikeouts. Edgar Capello notched his 19th save in 20 chances.
Sánchez had a game-changing home run in the top of the first. On a 0-1 fastball from Rafael Cardona, he banged a 2-run home run to right, giving the Hotspur a 2-0 lead. It was the 16th home run of the year for Sánchez.
"We did a lot of things right," said Sánchez.
