Big Day by Vargas Ignites Oaks Win
The Oakland Oaks thumped the Northern Virginia Retrievers, 12-0, at Oakland Coliseum. Jorge Vargas was a big reason his team got the win. Vargas slugged 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. José Reyna got the win, improving to 2-0. He pitched 7.1 innings, giving up 5 hits and no runs, while striking out 10 and walking 1. It was the 12th win in 18 games this year for the defending champion Oaks, who are picking up where they left off.

With Oakland leading 3-0 in the bottom of the second, Vargas hit a slider from Javier Mora for a 3-run home run. It was his 6th home run of the season and put the Oaks ahead, 6-0.

"We were firing on all cylinders today," said Oakland Oaks manager DAshley GoAs.
