The Boston Patriots overcame a good performance by Athletic Club KC right fielder Pedro Vázquez to knock off Athletic Club KC, 7-5, at Athletics Park. Vázquez was 3 for 4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 times. Jorge Aguirre was the winner. Over 7.1 innings, he allowed 5 runs on 10 hits, with 2 walks and 6 strikeouts. The Athletic Club KC fall to 6-8 and continue their uneasy start to the 2025 season.

Tied up with the Athletic Club KC in the top of the fifth, the Patriots got a boost from catcher Gabriel Maldonado. With runners on 1st and 3rd, Maldonado saw a full count fastball from Bill Oulton and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Boston on top, 6-5.

"We're a pretty talented bunch when we're playing well," said Maldonado. "I think we showed that here."
