Torch Slip Past Alameda, 3-2

Fans who gathered at Torch Field saw a good contest between the Mancelona Torch and Alameda Airmen.
The Alameda Airmen got a superb performance from pitcher Bryan McKinney, but the Torch still won the game, 3-2. McKinney was named the player of the game despite the loss. He threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball. With the win over Alameda, the Torch improved to 41-54.
José Hernández had a clutch at-bat with one out in the bottom of the eighth for the Torch. Coming up with runners on 1st and 2nd and Mancelona trailing 2-1, he hit a 2-run double.
Hernández told the Mancelona Citizen: "This isn't football or hockey where you can overwhelm your opponents. Everyone gets 27 outs and we happened to make the most of them."
