The Tula grabbed a 5-3 win at ACKC Youth Field, overcoming a fine effort from Athletic Club KC pitcher Jesús Otero. Otero went 6.2 innings and allowed no earned runs. Chicago reliever Howard Vidaurri picked up the win, upping his record to 4-0. Rubén Rivera took the loss. Eddie Schmitt, credited with the save, is now 21 for 23 in save opportunities.
The most important at-bat for Chicago came in the top of the ninth inning, when shortstop Lionel McCloud stroked a 2-2 fastball to left for a 2-run double, putting Chicago up, 5-3.
"We've got a great group of guys," McCloud said, "and we're having fun right now."
The current losing streak for Athletic Club KC has reached 4 games.
