Yellowknife Dragonblood starter Currito Melena was in a rhythm all game. He led his team to a win over the Walla Walla Walleye, 4-2. Melena picked up the win for Yellowknife, going 6.1 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 7 hits. He now sports a record of 3-8. The Dragonblood raised their record to 24-39.
A key at-bat in the game came in the bottom of the third inning when the Dragonblood sent teenager Keith Kamen to the plate against Walleye hurler Bennett Garland. With runners on 2nd and 3rd and a whole stadium watching, the kid controlled his nerves and delivered huge, hitting a single off a 2-2 curveball to score 2.
"Both teams played hard," said Yellowknife manager Dan Joseph.
