Athletic Club KC got an elite performance from starting pitcher Bertram Gilfoyle in taking a 4-1 decision over the South Beach Blaze. The winning pitcher was Gilfoyle, now 1-0. He tossed 7.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 4 and fanning 7. Athletic Club KC, now 15-23, holds 7th place in the Premier A.
Early in the game, third baseman Andrés Medina had a 2-run home run for Athletic Club KC. It was his 1st home run of the season and put the U-21 on top, 2-0.
"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Athletic Club KC U-21 manager Juan Medellín. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."
