The D.C. Divided picked up a win at Washington Stadium, knocking off the Atlanta Smoke, 5-3. On the mound for D.C. was left-hander Leslie Brooks, who played a pivotal role in the win. Brooks got the win, improving to 3-0. He allowed 7 hits and walked 1 over 8.1 innings. Brooks allowed 3 earned runs. At 11-2, the D.C. Divided have played well so far.
Brad Elmore, who is a two-time Gold Glove winner, aided the D.C. cause with a run-scoring walk in the bottom of the seventh. For the game, the left fielder drew 1 walk.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said D.C. manager Jonathan Gerth.
