Airmen Bump Off Walleye, 6-5
|
The Alameda Airmen topped the Walla Walla Walleye by the score of 6-5, with the largest share of the credit going to catcher Juan Costello. Costello went 2-2 with a home run, a walk, and was hit by a pitch for the Airmen. Alameda reliever José Muñóz was the winner. His record is now 1-0. The losing pitcher was José Marroquín. Reynaldo Maestas was credited with the save for Alameda, his 1st of the season.
Costello had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the seventh. On a 1-2 forkball from José Marroquín, he banged a solo home run to left, giving the Airmen a 6-5 lead. It was the 1st home run of the year for Costello.
"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Walla Walla manager Arturo Chávez. "The effort was great."
The Walla Walla Walleye, now 6-13, continue their sluggish start.
