Generals Prevail, 8-2, Over Athletic Club KC

The Washington Generals knocked off the Athletic Club KC U-21, 8-2, at Washington Park. Britt Lynch, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Washington won. The shortstop was 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Ji Jing earned the win to go to 1-1. He allowed 2 earned runs on 7 hits, with 3 walks and 11 strikeouts. Inocencio Galló earned the save, his 2nd, for the Generals.
When the Generals needed a boost, it was the light-hitting Lynch who delivered. Facing Athletic Club KC pitcher Bertram Gilfoyle the bottom of the seventh with the bases loaded, Lynch hit his 2nd home run of the year. It made the score 7-2.
"I felt we were ready to go," said Washington manager Felipe Tañón. "Our pregame was pretty good."
The win takes Washington to 8-10.
