Black Cats Suffer 5-1 Loss to U-21
|
Daniel Katz pitched a gem to lead Athletic Club KC to a 5-1 victory over the Gwinnett County Black Cats. Katz, now 1-2, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 2, walking 1, and allowing 1 earned run. Even with the win, it has been a disastrous start to the year for the U-21, who once had aspirations of returning to the playoffs but now find themselves mired in last place at 4-10.
Athletic Club KC second baseman Héctor Barrios helped the U-21 go up, 2-0, in the top of the second inning. With the game tied, Barrios hit a 2-run home run off Gwinnett County pitcher Héctor Salazar.
"I thought we played a nice game," Katz told the Athletic Club KC Daily News. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
