River Rats Hang 3-2 Loss on Torch
|
The Columbia River Rats faced a tough opponent in Mancelona pitcher Cheh Hao, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Torch Field by a final score of 3-2. Hao went 7.1 innings and allowed 3 earned runs. The loss drops Mancelona to 3-6.
A key at-bat in the game came in the top of the third inning when the River Rats sent teenager JoJo Victory to the plate against Torch hurler Cheh Hao. With runners on 1st and 2nd and a whole stadium watching, the kid controlled his nerves and delivered huge, hitting a single off a 3-1 fastball to score 1.
"We'll savor this win," Victory told the Columbia Bulletin, "then get ready for the next game."
