Gardner Propels Hammond to 5-0 Win
The Hammond Herons got a strong performance from pitcher Steve Gardner, who stymied the Louisiana offense en route to a 5-0 win at The Heron Refuge. Hammond currently is in first place in the Silver A at 52-29.

Gardner, who was born in Shiprock, New Mexico, threw 109 pitches over 7.2 innings, while allowing no earned runs.

In postgame remarks, Gardner said: "To all who've been doubting my effort -- I hope they saw this game."
