Hotspur U-21 Get 5-2 Win Versus Hammond
|
The Phoenix Hotspur U-21 knocked off the Hammond Herons, 5-2, at The Heron Refuge. Roberto Fierro, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Phoenix won. The center fielder went 2 for 3 with a home run and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Picking up the save was Richard Osborn, his 10th. The Hotspur U-21 raised their record to 26-41.
When the Hotspur U-21 needed a boost, it was the light-hitting Fierro who delivered. Facing Hammond pitcher Ernest Hawks the top of the fifth with runners on 2nd and 3rd, Fierro hit his 2nd home run of the year. It made the score 5-1.
"In baseball, you have your ups and downs," said Hammond manager Raúl Aguilar. "You just try to stay level-headed the whole time."
