Connetquot Chiefs starter Armando Ortíz pitched a strong game against the Louisiana Dragoons at Dragoons War Memorial Stadium, leading the Chiefs to a 3-2 win. The winning pitcher was Ortíz, now 4-1. He tossed 7.1 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 6. Picking up the save was Carlos Rosales, his 16th.
Ed Gambrell dealt the Dragoons a blow in the top of the fifth. Batting with a runner on 2nd and Connetquot leading 2-1, Gambrell hit a 2-1 fastball for a run-scoring single.
"Our guys are never satisfied," said Connetquot manager Don Nelson.
Connetquot bumps their record to 32-20 with the win.
