Fans who gathered at The Coffin saw a good contest between the Hammond Herons and Grim Reapers.

The Hammond Herons defeated the Grim Reapers, 5-1, in USSL Single A action at The Coffin, with Hammond pitcher José Díaz named player of the game. Díaz, now 4-0, was the winner. In 7.2 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 8, walking 3, and allowing 1 earned run.

One important at-bat came with runners on 1st and 2nd in the top of the fourth. That's when David Meléndez reached on an error by the 3B, driving in 1 run. The Herons went on to win.

"I felt we were ready to go," said Hammond manager Raúl Aguilar. "Our pregame was pretty good."

Grim has now lost 4 consecutive games.
