Dragoons Squelch Hammond Offense in Shutout Win
Louisiana Dragoons starter Bart Hegland was in a groove as he led his team to a win over the Hammond Herons, 3-0. In 5.2 innings, Hegland surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 2. He allowed no runs. The Dragoons, with just their 5th win in 19 games, have played uninspired baseball so far.

A key at-bat in the game came in the top of the fifth inning when the Dragoons sent teenager Galtero Suárez to the plate against Herons hurler Rust Cohle. With a runner on 2nd and a whole stadium watching, the kid controlled his nerves and delivered huge, hitting a single off a full count cutter to score 1.

"I like the grit of this ballclub," Suárez said.
