Herons Get Win, Extend Streak to 4
|
The Hammond Herons got a stellar effort from pitcher Ernest Hawks, helped Hammond score a 7-2 win over the visiting Mt. Vernon Bulls. Hammond reliever Mario Gonzáles was credited with the win, to go to 1-0. Javier López took the loss for Mt. Vernon. The win lifts Hammond to a record of 4-0.
Hammond took control in the bottom of the seventh. With no one out and runners on 1st and 2nd, Manuel Guillama hit a run-scoring double to make it 3-2, Herons.
"I'm just happy to help the team win," Hawks told the Hammond Chronicle.
