The 2025 season did not get off to quite the start the Louisiana Dragoons had hoped, with an opening day loss to the Put-In-Bay BC at Dragoons War Memorial Stadium. The final score was 8-7. Right Fielder Steve Koch was named player of the game for Put-In-Bay. Put-In-Bay reliever Dallas Blome picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Ángel Gómez absorbed the loss. Norberto Garza was credited with the save for Put-In-Bay, his 1st of the season.
Koch had a game-changing at-bat for Put-In-Bay. It came in the top of the ninth inning with one out. Koch hit a 1-2 fastball from Ángel Gómez for a run-scoring single. It put Put-In-Bay in front, 8-7.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Koch told the Put-In-Bay Daily.
