Caterpillars Continue Skid, Thanks to Ramsey, Chukars

The Idaho Falls Chukars downed the Grand Forks Caterpillars, 6-3, at The Cocoon. The Chukars were led by Scott Ramsey, who captured player of the game honors. He was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. Idaho Falls reliever Miguel Hernández was the winner. His record is now 2-0. The losing pitcher was Jim Unknown. Enrique Costa got credit for the save for Idaho Falls. It was his 12th of the year.
A key at-bat in the game came in the top of the first inning when the Chukars sent teenager Félix Medina to the plate against Caterpillars hurler Jim Unknown. With runners on 1st and 2nd and a whole stadium watching, the kid controlled his nerves and delivered huge, hitting a triple off a 0-2 slider to score 2.
"This was a good win for us," said Ramsey. "It's one more step toward our ultimate goal."
The Caterpillars, at 36-42, have lost 5 in a row.
