Sánchez Lifts Retrievers to 5-3 Triumph
|
The Northern Virginia Retrievers grabbed a 5-3 win over the Vancouver Grey Wolves at Wolf Den in Vancouver. Northern Virginia first baseman Roberto Sánchez was 3-3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3 to earn player of the game honors. Logan Gregory went 5.2 innings for Northern Virginia to pick up the win. The right-hander was charged with 3 earned runs. He scattered 7 hits, while walking 3 and striking out 4. His record improves to 2-2. The Retrievers' win now puts them at 41-66.
Sánchez had a key at-bat for Northern Virginia early in the game. With runners on 1st and 2nd, he hit a 3-run home run. It was his 13th home run of the season and gave Northern Virginia an early 3-0 lead.
"We did a lot of things right," said Sánchez.
