Guzzlers Stymie Highwood, Take 2-1 Win
|
Galesburg left-hander Tex Estes pitched his team to victory over the Highwood Hawks at Hawks Field. The final score was 2-1. Estes picked up the win for Galesburg, going 8 innings. He gave up 1 run on 7 hits. He now sports a record of 5-4. Anaías Pedroza earned the save for Galesburg, his 5th of the year.
Tied up with the Hawks in the top of the fifth, the Guzzlers got a boost from designated hitter Toussiant L'Ouverture. With a runner on 2nd, L'Ouverture saw a full count fastball from Stanley Eldrige and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Galesburg on top, 2-1.
"We're all about heart and hustle on this team. That's what wins ballgames," Estes told the Galesburg Chronicle.
Galesburg is 6th in the Menard's A with a record of 23-24.
