Chukars Win Again, Extend Streak to 6
|
The Idaho Falls Chukars did just enough to sneak past the Highwood Hawks, 3-2, at Hawks Field. Idaho Falls pitcher Paco Manuel earned player of the game honors. Earning his 6th save of the year was Bastião Shwerin. The Chukars have now won 6 straight.
A key at-bat in the game came in the top of the fourth inning when the Chukars sent teenager Félix Medina to the plate against Hawks hurler Austin Carlan. With runners on 2nd and 3rd and a whole stadium watching, the kid controlled his nerves and delivered huge, hitting a single off a 1-2 curveball to score 1.
"We'll enjoy this win," said Manuel. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."
