Bruins Continue Skid, Thanks to Stafford, Caterpillars
|
The Grand Forks Caterpillars thumped the Bellevue Bruins, 9-1, at Bellevue Field. Todd Stafford was a big reason his team got the win. Stafford was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Grand Forks reliever Carl Buckley picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Omar Casteneda shouldered the loss. The Bruins, now 12-13, have lost 7 straight.
In the top of the second, José Machado hit a 2-run double for Grand Forks. The 2nd double of the season for the Grand Forks third baseman put the Caterpillars on top, 2-0.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," Machado told the Grand Forks Daily News. "It's as simple as that."
