Expos Pull Back to .500 with Win over Hawks
|
Niagara Falls turned a good effort from starter Javier Matajudíos into a win over the Highwood Hawks at Hawks Field. The final score was 5-2. Matajudíos, now 3-2, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 6, walking 1, and allowing 2 earned runs. Cherles Gachineiro finished the game for Niagara Falls and earned his 2nd save.
One important at-bat came with the bases loaded in the top of the fifth. That's when Alejandro Garza, who is tied for 10th in the 3A in doubles with 5, hit a sacrifice fly. The Expos went on to win.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Garza, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
Niagara Falls is 7th in the Menard's A with a record of 11-11.
