Vicenteno Slugs Highlanders to 4-2 Win
|
In a close game at The Graveyard, the Asheville Highlanders edged the Casper Ghosts, 4-2. Asheville left fielder Luis Vicenteno earned the nod as player of the game after he hit 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Jim Unknown was the winning pitcher. Over 7.1 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 6 hits, with 1 walk and 6 strikeouts. Jim Unknown was credited with the save for Asheville, his 1st of the season.
Vicenteno had a game-changing home run in the top of the third. On a 2-2 changeup from José Vega, he banged a 2-run home run to right, giving the Highlanders a 3-1 lead. It was the 14th home run of the year for Vicenteno.
"We're scuffling right now," said losing manager Tony Cracknell.
