The Sun Prairie Swallows did just enough to secure a 5-4 victory over the Yakima Hops at Swallows Ballpark. Nobody did more than pitcher Oliver De Jesús, who captured player of the game honors. De Jesús got the win, improving to 3-3. He allowed 8 hits and walked 1 over 6.2 innings. De Jesús allowed 4 earned runs. Corbin Jameson, credited with the save, is now 7 for 9 in save opportunities.
In the bottom of the fourth, Sun Prairie second baseman Ghislain Vespucci had a productive at-bat. With a runner on 3rd and one out, Vespucci stroked a run-scoring single to center. It made the score 5-3, Sun Prairie. For the game, he was 1-4.
"Not to put too fine a point on it," said Vespucci, "but we really needed that win."
The Swallows now have a record of 44-53 with the win over Yakima.
