Hops Stymie Casper, Take 2-0 Win
|
Yakima and Casper duked it out at Hops Park and the Hops came out victorious.
In a tight game between the Yakima Hops and the Casper Ghosts, pitcher Mathieu Neri was terrific on the mound. The Yakima left-hander was named the player of the game in Yakima's 2-0 win. In 6.2 innings, Neri surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 2. He allowed no runs. Finn Wuilink was called on to finish, recording his 7th save.
The game was on the line with two out in the top of the seventh inning, but John Sirica didn't flinch. With runners on 1st and 3rd and Casper trailing 2-0, Sirica retired Freddy Carea to end the threat. "Nothing to it," said Sirica, with a wink.
With the win, the Hops have a record of 53-42.
