Screaming Eagles Take Nail-Biter Over Highlanders
Despite a fine performance by first baseman Bryce Bancroft, the Asheville Highlanders suffered a 9-6 loss to the Mercer Island Screaming Eagles. Bancroft was 2-4 with 2 home runs and a walk. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice. The first-place Screaming Eagles have won 4 straight games.

Mercer Island won the game in the bottom of the 11th inning. That's when designated hitter Leonardo Ramírez hit a dramatic 3-run home run, bringing Screaming Eagles fans to their feet.

"We came out aggressive," said Mercer Island Screaming Eagles manager Jared Gilbert. "We came out swinging the bats."
