The Yakima Hops thumped the Tacoma Fur Traders, 9-1, at Hops Park. Albert Sánchez was a big reason his team got the win. Sánchez slugged 2 home runs. Nigel Sweeny earned the save for Yakima, his 1st. Yakima currently is in third place in the Premier AA at 51-40.

San Juan, Puerto Rico-born Rafael Najcrea came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 2nd and the Hops trailing 1-0, he hit a 3-run home run to center to put Yakima on top.

"We were in it," said Tacoma manager Wesley Ellis. "We just didn't score enough runs."
