Jones 3-4 as Hops Squeeze Past Asheville
|
Yakima catcher Timothy Jones was a significant contributor in his team's 10-5 triumph over the Asheville Highlanders. He was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 6 runs and scored once for Yakima. Roberto Silva, credited with the win, is now 11-6. He allowed 2 runs on 7 hits in 5.2 innings. The Hops saw their record improve to 49-39.
Jones came through with some timely hitting for Yakima. With the score 4-2 in the top of the fifth and two down, Jones hit a 3-1 fastball for a 2-run single. It was his 37th hit of the season -- and a big reason the Hops managed to win.
