Vicenteno Excels, But Continentals Win
Asheville left fielder Luis Vicenteno was sensational. He was 4 for 4 with 2 home runs and a double, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 3, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Chesapeake beat the Highlanders, 8-7. Vicenteno was named the player of the game despite the loss. Chesapeake reliever Vicente Reyes was the winner. His record is now 4-0. The losing pitcher was Jim Unknown. Luis Rodríguez closed the game out for Chesapeake, earning his 8th save.

Thomas Sherman in the bottom of the fifth had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and the Continentals leading 6-5, the Chesapeake designated hitter hit a 2-run single.

"Getting a lot of baserunners and getting some timely hits, it's a good combination," said Sherman.

The 5th-place Continentals raised their record to 41-46.
