Highlanders Win at Chesapeake, 7-0
|
The Asheville Highlanders bested the Chesapeake Continentals, 7-0, at Chesapeake Grounds. Paco Vásquez was named player of the game. He was 2 for 2 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Asheville currently is in 9th place in the Premier AA at 38-47.
The Highlanders benefited from a costly error in the top of the sixth. With John Pemperton at bat and Asheville leading 1-0, the Chesapeake miscue allowed Asheville to plate 1 and take the lead, 2-0.
In postgame remarks, Vásquez said: "We put it together today and came out with the win -- that's the main thing."
