The exploits of shortstop Bass Reeves helped the Minnesota Loons defeat the Asheville Highlanders, 9-2. Reeves went 4-5 with a triple and 3 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The 9th-place Loons now have a win-loss record of 37-46.

Reeves had a game-changing triple in the top of the third. On a 2-2 slider from Jim Unknown, he banged a bases-clearing triple to center, giving the Loons a 3-0 lead. It was the 1st triple of the year for Reeves.

"We were firing on all cylinders today," said Minnesota Loons manager Sandy Hampton.
