Loons Saddle Screaming Eagles with 5-3 Loss
|
The Minnesota Loons picked up a win at Loony Bin, knocking off the Mercer Island Screaming Eagles, 5-3. Starting pitcher Octávio Fernández, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. Fernández was the winning pitcher and moves to 9-4. He threw 6.2 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 7 and giving up 4 walks. Minnesota's record now stands at 36-45, placing them 9th in the Premier AA.
Ieyoshi Yamamoto, who is tied for 9th in the PAA with a .297 batting average, aided the Minnesota cause with a 2-run single in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the catcher was 3-4 with 3 singles and a walk, while adding 2 RBI.
"I'm proud of the way our guys played today to come out with this win," Fernández told the Minnesota Herald.
