Jorge Velázquez did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Mercer Island Screaming Eagles from losing, 7-5, to the Chesapeake Continentals at Mercer Island Grounds. Velázquez went 3 for 4 with a double and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs. Martin Swanson picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 2-3. Denis Melis was tagged with the loss. Chesapeake now sits in 7th place in the Premier AA at 36-41.

It could have been a different outcome for Chesapeake, had it not been for Vince Barrowcliff, the 25-year old third baseman . Barrowcliff contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the tenth inning to put Chesapeake up, 6-5.

"Good win for us, tough loss for them," said Barrowcliff.
