Chesapeake Continentals starter Oliver Huerta was in a groove as he led his team to a win over the Tacoma Fur Traders, 9-0. Huerta got the win, improving to 2-4. He allowed 4 hits and walked 1 over 7 innings. Huerta allowed no earned runs. The 7th-place Continentals improved to 34-40.
Also doing his part was designated hitter Gil Nichols, who stroked a 2-run double in the top of the first for Chesapeake. For the game, Nichols went 1 for 4 with a double and a walk. He drove in 2 runs.
"Oliver did a tremendous job," said Chesapeake manager José Flores.
