Fur Traders Cut Down Ghosts, 8-3
|
The Tacoma Fur Traders picked up a win at The Graveyard, knocking off the Casper Ghosts, 8-3. Starting pitcher César González was an essential part of his team's success. González, now 1-7, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 9, walking 2, and allowing 2 earned runs. Lonnie Barrett finished to wrap up his 13th save.
Also having an impact was left fielder Michael Whorton, who stroked a 2-run single in the top of the first for Tacoma. For the game, Whorton went 1 for 5. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"Some of the guys in here work pretty hard, some of the guys just kind of fall out of bed and get it done. Whatever works I guess, we won this one," Whorton told the Tacoma Herald.
Casper has now lost 4 consecutive games.
