Patriots Take Tight Tilt
Jorge Aguirre never let the Athletic Club KC find their groove. Throughout the game, Aguirre, who is on pace to win 13 games this season, relied on his bread and butter, his fastball, in pitching the Patriots to a win. The winning pitcher was Aguirre, now 12-6. He tossed 5.2 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 5. Jesús Caldero closed the door for Boston, picking up his 8th save of the year.

Also having an impact was third baseman Tamasaburo Kato, who stroked a run-scoring single in the bottom of the fifth for Boston. For the game, Kato was 1 for 4.

Kato told a Boston Bulletin reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win.

The first-place Patriots improved to 61-37.
