Retrievers Rally For Late Win Over Smoke
|
Northern Virginia beat Atlanta, 7-5. The win in part was due to first baseman Chad Armstrong, who nabbed player of the game honors. He went 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Javier Mora, credited with the win, is now 1-1. He allowed 4 runs on 9 hits in 7 innings. The Retrievers have stumbled out of the gate, getting only their 3rd win in 10 games.
Northern Virginia grabbed control in the top of the eighth. With two out and the bases loaded, Roberto Salazar delivered a 2-run single, to make it 6-4 in favor of the Retrievers.
"I like the grit of this ballclub," Armstrong said.
