Fur Traders Fall Short, 4-1, at Lannister United
|
Edgar Lankford never let the Tacoma Fur Traders find their groove. Throughout the game, Lankford, who was drafted in the two round of the 2023 draft, relied on his bread and butter, his fastball, in pitching the Lionhearts to a win. The winning pitcher was Lankford, now 2-3. He tossed 6 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 6. Miguel Cervantes recorded the save for Lannister United, his 1st of the season.
The Lannister United win was a team effort. It included major contributions from, among others, Jon Baxter. In the bottom of the fourth, the Lannister United third baseman came to bat and hit a run-scoring double. It staked his team to a 1-0 lead.
"Edgar was pounding the zone," said Lannister United manager Ernesto Reyes.
Lannister United's record now stands at 13-14, placing them 4th in the Premier AA.
