The Lannister United Lionhearts got a superb performance from pitcher Ryan Ingram. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Chesapeake. The Continentals won the game, 3-2. In spite of the loss, Ingram was named the player of the game. He threw 7 innings of 6-hit ball. Chesapeake reliever Martin Swanson was the winner. His record is now 1-0. Hank Downey took the loss. The 9th-place Continentals improved to 10-13.
Miguel Cruz was 2-4 with 2 singles and a walk for Chesapeake. In the top of the ninth, with the teams deadlocked, 2-2, Cruz delivered for the Continentals. His run-scoring walk put Chesapeake on top, 3-2.
"We'll savor this win," Cruz told the Chesapeake Gazette, "then get ready for the next game."
