Screaming Eagles Beat Loons, 5-1

Mercer Island and Minnesota met at Loony Bin in front of a lively crowd.
The Mercer Island Screaming Eagles scored a 5-1 win versus the Minnesota Loons at Loony Bin. Mercer Island pitcher Fernando Reyna nabbed top player honors in the tight contest. The winning pitcher was Reyna, now 2-1. He tossed 7.2 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 5. Denis Melis earned his 7th save in 7 tries.
In the top of the fifth, Mercer Island shortstop Gerjan de Best had a productive at-bat. With the bases empty and two outs, de Best stroked a solo home run to left. It made the score 1-0, Mercer Island. For the game, he was 1 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Reyna, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
The Mercer Island Screaming Eagles keep rolling, raising their record to 13-5.
