Scorpio, Screaming Eagles Too Much for Fur Traders
Mercer Island beat Tacoma at Mercer Island Grounds, escaping with a 8-3 win. The win in large part was due to right fielder Hank Scorpio, who earned player of the game honors. He went 3-4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. The Mercer Island Screaming Eagles, now 11-4, have been on a roll in the early going.

The Screaming Eagles ran into trouble in the top of the fourth. The score was 5-0, Mercer Island, with two out. Tacoma, with the bases loaded, had Michael Whorton at the plate. With a base hit, he could have changed the complexion of the game. Instead, he flied out and the Screaming Eagles went on to win.
