Yakima overcame a superlative game from Francisco Santos to beat Minnesota, 6-3. The Minnesota shortstop took player of the game honors in a losing cause. He was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs. Dave Morse got the win, improving to 2-0. He pitched 5.2 innings, giving up 8 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 5 and walking 1. Earning his 5th save of the year was Gerardo García.
Pedro Tapia was a key contributor to the win for the Hops. In the bottom of the first with no one out, the light-hitting center fielder stroked a double to left. He was 1-3 with a double and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"I think we all put in a good day's work," said Tapia.
The Yakima Hops, now 10-4, have played some good baseball in the early going.
