Continentals Win, Hope to Turn around Slow Start
|
With left fielder Colt Gridley leading the charge, the Chesapeake Continentals defeated the Lannister United Lionhearts, 9-2, at Chesapeake Grounds. Gridley went 4 for 5 with 4 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Chesapeake starter Francisco Sandoval was credited with the win after throwing 101 pitches over 6 innings. His record now stands at 1-0. Héctor Rodríguez recorded his 1st save for Chesapeake.
Also producing for Chesapeake was second baseman Kichisaburo Otani, who stroked a run-scoring double in the bottom of the second. For the game, Otani was 1 for 3 with a double.
"I give credit to my teammates for this win. We got it done," Gridley told the Chesapeake Gazette.
The win takes Chesapeake to 1-2.
