Patriots Win at Buckhead, 4-2
|
The Boston Patriots got a stellar performance from pitcher Jorge Aguirre, who handcuffed the Buckhead offense en route to a 4-2 win at Buckhead Grounds. Aguirre went 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 3 hits, walked 1, and struck out 10. His record improves to 10-6. Jesús Caldero earned his 7th save in 9 chances.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the fifth, with the game tied, Karl Schultz was at the plate when Boston scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Patriots to go in front, 3-2.
"This was a good win for us," said Schultz. "It's one more step toward our ultimate goal."
Boston is now 56-35, 2½ games up in the Division I.
