The Jersey City Sun Caps thumped the Plymouth Rocks, 10-1, at Plymouth Quarry. Mike Greene was a big reason his team got the win. Greene was 2-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Jersey City is now 51-33, Plymouth 21-63.

There was more than one reason the Sun Caps beat the Rocks, but one factor was Miguel Cruz. In the top of the second, the Jersey City shortstop came to bat and hit a bases-clearing double. It staked his team to a 3-0 lead.

"You can't sugarcoat this one," said Plymouth manager Henry Henderson. "We got flat-out beat."
