Sun Caps Walk Off with 8-5 Win
|
The Jersey City Sun Caps defeated the Sunset District Fog, 8-5, at Jersey City Grounds. Jersey City first baseman Qi-zhen Loong was named player of the game for his superb performance. He went 2-4 with a double and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. The win was credited to Jim Unknown in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Júlio Maes took the loss. Jersey City, at 47-32, sits in third place in the Premier AAA.
Jersey City won the game in the bottom of the tenth inning. That's when designated hitter Salvador Pineda hit a dramatic 3-run home run, bringing Sun Caps fans to their feet.
In postgame remarks, Pineda said: "We put it together today and came out with the win -- that's the main thing."
